Gunther shrugged off the disappointment of losing the Intercontinental title to Sami Zayn at WrestleMania XL. He went on to win six consecutive matches ahead of his big match against Damian Priest at SummerSlam, including a significant victory over Randy Orton. Now, after defeating the Archer of Infamy and becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion, his wife, Jinny, sent him a message on social media.

Jinny Couture took to X and shared a heartfelt picture of herself with Gunther to express how proud she was of her husband’s big win. She was present in the arena and witnessed The Ring General become the world champion from the front row. Recently, they had another reason to celebrate as they welcomed their son into their lives.

Speaking of the match itself, Damian Priest was on the verge of defeating Gunther with a series of moves. Just as he went for the pinfall, Finn Balor betrayed his longtime friend. In the final moments of the match, the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion eventually made the Judgment Day member pass out.

However, there was no time for celebrations for the Imperium leader, as Randy Orton came out to challenge him. On the latest episode of Raw, The Viper requested his rematch due to the controversial finish at the King and Queen of the Ring PLE. Gunther accepted the challenge and will defend his title against him at Bash in Berlin.

Booker T believed that Gunther would be the future of WWE

The wave of new-generation wrestlers has really taken WWE by storm. While NXT call-ups like Bron Breakker and Tiffany Stratton won the Intercontinental Championship and Money in the Bank briefcase, respectively, Gunther became the new World Heavyweight Champion. A certain Hall of Famer believes these superstars will be the future of WWE. The name in question is none other than Booker T.

While speaking on the Hall of Fame podcast, King Booker expressed his belief that stars like The Ring General and Breakker would lead the future of the business. He further stated that they would become an inspiration for many young stars and take the next wave of generations to new heights.

I feel both of these guys, they are the future of the business, they are the guys that are going to take us into this next wave and reality, really put WWE in that position to where so many young people are going to want to be a part of this millennial thing going on right now.

The former WCW Champion even said that he loved the way wrestling was progressing right now. He stated that Gunther and Breakker were at the forefront of it. It will be interesting to see how long both superstars manage to hold the titles they just won.
