North Carolina museum celebrates the house cat
SYLVA, N.C. (WLOS) — A North Carolina museum gives visitors a look inside one man's passion and celebrates a beloved pet.
Harold Sims (AKA the Catman) opened The American Museum Of The House Cat in Sylva in April 2017.
The museum serves as a way to celebrate the cat's impact on pop culture and advertising.
"Cats are good salesmen," Sims said. "You see a cat, it looks cute, you've got to have it."
He's spent about $250,000 over the years investing in rare finds, like a 2,000-year-old Egyptian mummy.
Sims hopes to someday hold weddings for cat lovers.
The American Museum of the House Cat is located off Highway 441 South, in the same building as the Old School Antique Mall in Sylva.
